About the Firm
One of the top 30 largest law firms in the world with over 1,400 lawyers and offices across the globe, the firm represents a client base of the world’s most lucrative companies.
The Vision and Challenge
The law firm had self-managed off-site and local backups, which were sufficient for archiving daily operations but not built for fast recoverability in a disaster scenario. When one of their largest clients (a global financial institution) requested proof of business continuity, the firm suddenly found itself under a specific deadline to demonstrate disaster recoverability. But this client wasn’t the only one concerned with the firm’s ability to recover IT systems – they were receiving security questionnaires and technology audits from other clients about disaster recovery and data protection, so the firm realized this issue wasn’t going away.
The firm had a large environment with over 500+ virtual machines (VMs), and their existing speed to recover in catastrophic events was not tolerable by the market or their clients. They needed a reliable, “always-on” solution that could prove cost-effectiveness without adding operational burden to their team.
The Outcome
The firm engaged InterVision to design and implement a Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) solution that satisfied their board that, in the event of a disaster, they would be able to bring critical systems back online.
As a result of the solution, the firm satisfied their client audit, as well as proof for other clients, without significant budgetary investment because they leveraged InterVision’s expertise and technology. In addition, the IT team was freed up to focus on 80 other competing IT projects because they outsourced disaster recovery to InterVision.
