About the Organization
The customer is a public community college serving a coastal county in California with two campuses and many satellite locations.
The Vision and Challenge
As part of a larger strategic initiative, the community college wanted to shift their workloads to the cloud to reduce IT infrastructure cost, increase security, and provide faster availability to student data. With an impending, uncertain academic year during the COVID-19 pandemic, the college thought that cloud would increase their business agility while also accommodating varied forms of in-person and remote learning. Their migration to the cloud needed to be completed in the shortest amount of time, and with a limited budget.
The Outcome
The college worked with InterVision’s Cloud team to define the scope, strategy, and budget for their cloud migration.
With InterVision’s migration methodology providing guidance, InterVision’s experts engaged with the college’s leadership and IT team to perform a deep dive into business objectives, technical requirements, and other factors, which identified that the AWS cloud was the best choice for their goals. InterVision provided a team of cloud engineers that followed the methodology to migrate their on-prem Peoplesoft ERP application to AWS, which is the primary application for their student data. In addition, they provisioned us for AWS infrastructure services, including landing zone, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS and Transit Gateway.
The customer will benefit from reduced IT infrastructure cost, faster availability to student data, and greater security. InterVision’s Cloud Architects are currently strategizing with the college’s IT team about AppStream 2.0 and AWS Connect to empower their remote education needs.
